NEW YORK — Michael A. Fernández has been appointed Vice Chair of the Institute for Transnational Arbitration’s Young ITA North America leadership team. In that capacity, Fernández will serve as a Young ITA regional ambassador for North America, organize #YoungITATalks events, and contribute to Young ITA online publications, including the Kluwer Arbitration Blog, ITA in Review, and News & Notes, about regional developments.
Young ITA promotes the involvement of professionals under 40 in the international arbitration community through programs, publications and other activities, including roundtable discussions, mentorship programs, and newsletters. The Institute for Transnational Arbitration at The Center for American and International Law is one of the world’s leading educational forums in the field of international arbitration.
Fernández’s practice is focused on complex commercial litigation, international arbitration, and regulatory compliance issues. Fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, he has experience representing foreign and domestic companies and individuals involved in arbitrations, litigations, and with investigations in the U.S., as well as parties to international commercial and investment treaty arbitrations conducted under the major international rules including UNCITRAL, ICSID and ICDR.
