ExxonMobil United Way Bowling Tournament
Rivero Mestre sent a team of attorneys to Houston, Texas, to support United Way by participating in an annual bowling tournament hosted by ExxonMobil. [more +]
Legal Services of Greater Miami Fundraiser
Rivero Mestre’s Bryan Paschal helped raise funds for Legal Services of Greater Miami, Inc., by raffling an all-expense paid, two-day cruise to the Bahamas. All proceeds of the Sail Away, Sail Away, Sail Away Cruise raffle went to Legal Services of Greater Miami, the largest provider of broad-based civil legal services for the poor in Miami-Dade and Monroe counties.
Stand Your Ground Town Hall Meeting
The well-publicized Trayvon Martin case involved the Florida “Stand Your Ground” statute which has sparked discussions about race, bias, gun control, and self-defense. Rivero Mestre sponsored and co-hosted a town hall meeting where an extensive panel of attorneys and law professors discussed the complex interplay between race and the statute’s application. [more +]
Haitian Lawyers Association Humanitarian Award
On June 8, 2011, the Haitian Lawyers Association honored Rivero Mestre LLP with its 2011 Humanitarian Award for its dedicated service to South Florida’s Haitian community. Haiti’s Consul Général, Mr. Ralph Latortue, presented the award. [more +]

On May 21, 2011, Rivero Mestre, along with the American Bar Association’s Council for Racial and Ethnic Justice, organized and co-sponsored a community outreach event featuring over 20 legal and public service organizations.

United for Haiti Fundraising Reception
On January 19, 2010, Rivero Mestre organized and co-sponsored a reception that raised over $30,000 to assist in the critical work being performed by Doctors Without Borders in the aftermath of the earthquake in Haiti.
Lawyers for Children America Child Advocacy Award
On May 20, 2011, Lawyers for Children America honored Rivero Mestre Attorney Alicia Santana Torres for her outstanding legal advocacy and exceptional service as a pro bono attorney for abused and neglected children and youth. Thanks to the encouragement and mentoring of Ms. Torres, other Rivero Mestre attorneys have accepted attorney ad litem appointments in dependency cases through Lawyers for Children America. [more+]
Pro Bono Representation of WhistleBlowers
In 2010, Rivero Mestre undertook the pro bono representation of a former City of Miami Director of Capital Improvements for the City’s violation of whistle-blower laws.
Cuban American Association Pro Bono Project
Rivero Mestre attorneys have continuously supported the CABA Pro Bono Project for years by taking pro bono cases. In 2010, Rivero Mestre successfully defended a lawyer who was being sued as a result of his own participation in the CABA Pro Bono Project.
Human Rights Petition
Jorge A. Mestre co-drafted a Petition For Immediate Relief Against Human Rights Violations Committed by the Republic of Cuba filed with the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights of the Organization of American States.
